Suay-ness..

These few days, really very suay. From all those incidents that occured in a span of just a few days, it really shows how inorganised the management is. Let's start the story from Sunday(27/3).

I went to work as usual in the morning, and did all routine stuffs before i opened the shop for business. The only thing was, my shift was supposed to be from 9am to 6pm, however, there was no one available for the later shift (1pm to 10pm) as all the other 3 part-timers of Hougang outlet had other commitments - one having exams, another holidaying overseas, and the third was busy at her own cafe. The end result, i had no choice but to work full shift, that is, from 9am to 10pm.

How did this come about? Quite a few days before that Sunday, i noticed that there was only one worker available for both Saturday and Sunday, and i called my superior (let's call her L) asking her to assist me in finding ppl to stand in for the shifts. She told me she would ask another supervisor (and let's call this supervisor J) to find workers for me, and i left it at that coz, at that time, i still had alot of faith in her (she's a manager after all). However, J later called me saying L told her that we (Hougang outlet) didn't need any extra workers anymore coz L already found stand-ins for us. Hence, J didn't find anyone to stand in. Ok, at this point of time i believed what they said (now i realise that they're totally not dependable).

BUT i discovered on Sat that L actually did not find anyone to stand in for us, and i had to quickly get J to help me to find workers. Very last minute i know, but we really had no choice. (Sat was actually my off-day but i still had to find someone, if not the Hougang part-timer, Jess, working on Sat had to work full shift.) The worse thing was, L went off on holiday 2 days ago and wasn't due to be back for work yet, so i couldn't clarify anything with her. -_-"

J managed to find someone to work on Sat night, but she was having trouble with Sun night. She told me if she couldn't find anyone, she would personally come to Hougang to stand in. NOTE: she volunteered, i didn't ask her to do it, not a word about that whatsoever, none, zilch.

On Sun noon, about 12pm+, i made a call (the first call of the day) to J to ask her for something totally unrelated to the stand-in matter (i'll talk about this later). But when she heard my voice, she immediately said (not the exact words but something like this), "Wa lao.. why u keep calling me to ask about the staff.. i very angry about this leh! I'm not going to go down and work lor! It's very unfair to me leh!"

Me, "........................................."

HELLO?? I didn't say anything about her coming down right?! She said that herself what! In the first place i wasn't even going to ask her about that lor! If she didn't want to come down she could have just said it and that's enough right? Need the 'unfair' part meh?? Then she think it's fair for me meh? I did ask for help a few days earlier right? If she felt that it was unfair to her then she shouldn't have volunteered in the first place mah. Yeah i know it wasn't her fault that all these happened, but the way she said it, i felt like she was blaming me for it. I was at a loss for words. Really.

So that's why in the end, i had to do a full shift. All the trouble and frustration for nothing. I might as well save them and volunteer to do a full shift right at the beginning. Btw, i made a call to L to inform her about this today, and she told me that she DID ask J to find helpers. Now who should i believe? *shrugs*

Anyway, remember the stand-in J found for Sat night? Let's call her D. First thing first, i'm really grateful that she was willing to come down for work at such short notice, what's more on a Sat night. I know it's not very pleasant to be called to work at the last minute, especially if u had made plans for urself. But that aside, i'm really wondering if she knows what she's doing, or if she's really THAT blur.

When i arrived for work on Sun, i discovered that she didn't settle the NETS machine properly for the previous day (those who worked in the retail industry before would know what that means). It's really lucky that i have a habit of checking the NETS machine every morning before i open the shop, else i would have alot of trouble balancing the sales for that day when i do the settlement at night. This is also the reason why i made that call to J that day.. to get D's hp number.

Nevermind about that, more funny and weird things to come. Since D had to do the closing that night, Jess passed D her key for the shop, and D was supposed to throw it into the Pet Lovers letterbox after she'd done the lock-up.

The next day (just for the readers' info, i worked 9am-6pm and Jess worked 1pm-10pm), which is yesterday 28th March, Jess couldn't find the key in the letterbox when she was about to close shop. And after calling D, she found out that D threw the key into the wrong letterbox. (She threw it into the letterbox belonging to the Soyabean shop.. -_-;;;)

When i found out about this i was like, "omg.. how can something like that happen??? Each shop has its own logo on the lid of its letterbox so how can she not notice that the letterbox belongs to another shop????? Was she dreaming away or too anxious to go home.....??"

Without the key Jess couldn't lock up the shop, and that's where i came in.. ~_~" I had to go back down to Hougang to pass her my key (she needs the key to open tomorrow as well coz tomorrow's my off-day). Hence, i went to Hougang by cab (was 10pm+ already) and took a cab home as well, will claim the cab fees on Wed when i go back to work of coz.

Very eventful for the past few days right? I don't know if i should laugh or cry man. In a way it's kinda funny, the way D threw the key into the wrong letterbox. On the other hand, it's also kinda troublesome, not to say a waste of time as well.

Well.... i guess such things do happen from time to time. But i reaaallly reeaaaalllyyy hope they don't happen to me again........ >_<"
